Ordinance establishing the Office of LGBTQIA+ Advancement

I am proud to take this step toward institutionalizing support for our LGBTQIA2S+ community by filing an ordinance to create the Office of LGBTQIA2S+ Advancement, solidifying Boston’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, equity, and support. This office will tackle unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA2S+ residents, such as discrimination, health disparities, and barriers to essential services. By formalizing the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA2S+ Advancement, we ensure its lasting role in advocating for LGBTQIA2S+ rights, safety, and well-being, while advancing proactive policies in response to legislative changes. This initiative underscores Boston’s leadership in championing equality and creating a safe, welcoming city for all. The ordinance has been referred to the Committee on Government Operations. I look forward to learning more, advancing this initiative, and fostering continued conversations around equity, inclusion, and support for our LGBTQIA2S+ community.
