Co Hosting a Hearing To Examine The Challenges and Opportunities Within Boston’s Youth Job Programs

I recently co-sponsored a hearing to examine the challenges and opportunities within Boston’s youth job programs, including SuccessLink, futureBOS, and Youth Options Unlimited, as well as the "Mayor’s Youth Job Guarantee." While these programs have provided many young people with access to employment, the discussion highlighted ongoing issues, such as barriers to equitable access, the need for better outreach, and creating more year-round opportunities. We also heard concerns about improving support for marginalized youth, strengthening partnerships with employers, and helping students onboard by making the application and hiring process easier to navigate. Using the insights from this hearing, we aim to address these challenges and build stronger pathways for Boston’s youth to succeed.
